1. Given :   3/5 of the ribbons in a box are blue the rest are pink and orange the ratio of the number of pink ribbons is 3:5

To find :   ratio of the number of blue ribbons to the number of pink ribbons to the number of orange ribbons

Solution:

ratio of the number of pink ribbons is 3:5 ( incomplete statement )

Let say  Ribbon  are   20B

=> Blue ribbons are = (3/5) * 20B  =  12B

Pink & Orange Ribbons are  20B – 12B  = 8B

Assumption : ratio of the number of pink ribbons  to Orange ribbons 3 : 5

=> Pink ribbons = (3 /8) 8B = 3B

Orange Ribbons = (5/8) 8B  = 5B

Blue = 12B

Pink = 3B

Orange = 5B

Total = 20B

ratio of the number of blue ribbons to the number of pink ribbons to the number of orange ribbons

12B : 3B : 5B

= 12 : 3 : 5

Assumption : ratio of the number of orange ribbons  to Pink ribbons  = 3:5

Then 12 : 5 : 3 would be final answer

if  ratio of the number of Pink ribbons to blue ribbons  = 3 : 5

P/12B = 3/5  => P = 36B/5

O = 8B – 36B/5 = 4B/5

12B : 36B/5  : 4B/5

=  60B : 36B : 4B

= 15 : 9 : 1
