Reasons for skewed sex ratio in India can be attributed to the following:

a.The persistence of an adverse sex ratio is mainly because of a high preference in Indian society for sons.

    b. The old mind set of the people is certainly a cause. People continue to hold stereotypical and prejudiced views against women and favour male child.

    c. Increasing rate of female infanticide ,particularly in states like Haryana, has impacted the sex ratio.

    d. Low nutritional rate among the females, improper health care also impacts the overall health of women’s population.
